The National Junior Honor Society recognizes and encourages academic achievement along with extracurricular involvement. Students selected for membership are expected to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. As active members, students are given opportunities to share their talents and skills with the Lenape community. Membership is both an honor and a commitment.
The application process for NJHS takes place after the second marking period and includes current 7th and 8th graders. A student must meet the preliminary scholastic requirement of a rolling cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher and have attended Lenape for one full semester. Students will be notified of the application process and will be required to complete their application by a set deadline.
Academic Excellence is not the sole criteria for selection, however, demonstrated leadership, school and community service, character, and citizenship are encouraged, as well, for admittance into the society.
